I’ve always been obsessed with Vintage Supernatural, innocent times when parapsychology seemed an emerging science and Bigfoot a possibility.
I want to further explore hauntological nuggets in the hope it informs my images. Stone tape theory was perhaps retroactively named after BBC horror The Stone Tape, written by Nigel Kneale. It supposes that visions and sounds of those long dead, under special circumstances could be trapped in matter, awaiting to be discovered by those sensitive to such things. What I loved about the film is the now antiquated technology used to untangle the visions stored in the stone. If that wasn't enough, the BBC Radiophonic workshop provides much of the sound effects.
I feel a similar hopeless desire in my photography, to discover some ancient secrets out of the melancholy of reality. How I go about that is yet to be unearthed.
